# Getting started with razi.pro

What razi.pro is, how to find the right tool, which tools keep your files in your browser, and the shortcuts that save you time.

**Browse all tools:** https://www.razi.pro/tools

## What razi.pro is

razi.pro is a free set of tools that run in your web browser, plus a blog. You can compress a PDF, turn a video into a GIF, format some JSON, shorten a link or send a file to another device, all without installing anything.

Most tools work without an account. A few need you to [sign in](https://www.razi.pro/signin), and signing in also keeps a history of what you have done.

## Finding a tool

The [tools page](https://www.razi.pro/tools) lists everything. From there you can:

- **Search.** Type what you want to do into the search box, for example "json formatter" or "url shortener".
- **Browse by category.** Tools are grouped into categories such as PDF Tools, Media & Utilities, Converter Tools, Developer Tools, SEO Tools and Audio Tools.
- **Switch the layout.** Use the **Grid view** and **Table view** buttons to see tools as cards or as a compact list.
- **Filter by profession.** Pick a profession to see only the tools that suit it. Pick **All** to clear the filter.

If you would rather start from your job than from a tool, [browse by profession](https://www.razi.pro/tools/for). Each profession has its own page of tools that fit it.

## Searching the whole site

Press **Ctrl+K**, or **⌘K** on a Mac, to open search from any page. It finds tools, blog posts, games and resources. Press the same keys again to close it.

The shortcut does nothing while you are typing in a text box, so it never gets in the way of a tool. You can also click **Search** at the top of the page.

## Which tools keep your files on your device

Some tools do all their work inside your browser. Your file never leaves your computer or phone. Other tools need a server, so the file is sent to razi.pro, processed, and the result is sent back.

| Runs in your browser | Sends your file to the server |
| --- | --- |
| PDF to Images | Compress PDF |
| Images to PDF | Merge PDF and Split PDF |
| Background Remover | OCR (image and PDF to text) |
| Base64 Encoder/Decoder | Video Compressor |
| Diff Checker | Video to MP3 and Video to GIF |

The AI tools, such as the text generator and email drafter, also use the server. So do the [URL shortener](https://www.razi.pro/tools/url-shortener) and [File Share](https://www.razi.pro/tools/file-share). File Share is a special case, though: its direct mode sends files from one device to the other without storing them.

## Help inside each tool

Most tools have a **?** help button in their top bar. Click it, or press **/** while you are not typing, to open a short panel with a **Quick Start**, an **FAQ** and **Tips** where they exist. Press **Esc** to close it.

At the bottom of that panel, **View full documentation & FAQ** opens the tool's own docs page. You can also find those at [tool documentation](https://www.razi.pro/tools/docs).

## Light and dark theme, and your history

Use the sun and moon button at the top of the page to switch between light and dark. The keyboard shortcut is **Ctrl+Shift+Z**, or **⌘+Shift+Z** on a Mac.

If you are signed in, many tools save each run as a session. You can see them all in [tool history](https://www.razi.pro/tools/history). There you can search your sessions, filter by tool, and star the ones you want to keep handy. Tool history needs an account; when you are signed out, nothing is saved.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is razi.pro free?

Yes. The tools and the blog are free to use. Some tools have usage limits to keep the service fair for everyone, and a few need you to sign in with Google.

### Do I need an account to use the tools?

No, most tools work without one. Five tools require you to sign in: AI Image Generator, AI Text Humanizer, Sticker Maker, Storage Explorer and YouTube Studio. Signing in also turns on tool history.

### Does razi.pro upload my files?

It depends on the tool. Tools such as PDF to Images, Images to PDF, Background Remover and Diff Checker work entirely in your browser, so your file stays on your device. Tools such as Compress PDF, OCR and the Video Compressor send your file to the server to process it.

### What is the keyboard shortcut for search?

Press Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux, or Command+K on a Mac. It works on any page, except while you are typing in a text box.

### How do I switch to dark mode?

Click the sun or moon button at the top of the page, or press Ctrl+Shift+Z (Command+Shift+Z on a Mac). Signed-in users can also choose Light or Dark on their profile page.

### Why is my tool history empty?

Tool history only saves sessions while you are signed in. Anything you did while signed out was not recorded. Sign in with Google and your next sessions will appear at /tools/history.
